God With Us
So Jacob rose early in the morning,… –Gen. 28.18a
Happy Sunday, Middle!
What do you do with your dreams? When you can suddenly see the path forward, the vision for the future, how do you move after? Does it change your trajectory?
We don’t have a moment to waste! When we receive the clarity we’ve been praying for, we must act! As Jacob did in today’s pericope, he had his dream, roused long enough to realize what it was, and then rose early in the morning to get about the business of following his dream. (And while I love that there was no time to lose, he still got his rest. He went back to sleep and then rose early in the morning!)
What can you put in place when the day is fresh and new? What will you do with this one Sunday, July 19th, 2026? I pray that one thing you will do is come to Middle to love, to organize, to give, to just…be in community. I pray that you will treat each moment as a new opportunity to get a little closer to what we dream for this world, and the person you wish to be in it.
See you at church!
Oh! p.s. No in-person worship at the building on August 2nd. We are going to the beach! Meet John and me on the beach in front of the aquarium at Coney Island for our worship celebration. And if you’ve ever wanted to get baptized, email me (nperkins@middlechurch.org) to let me know so we can plan for you. After worship, we’ll hang out and have a beach day! (Or head home/to brunch/etc, if that’s your druthers.)
Love you; mean it.
