Hey Middle Family,
As Lent kicks off tomorrow, we're excited to embark on this journey with you.
Here's what we have in store for the upcoming weeks:
Lenten Journey with Alicia Mountain and Sarah E. Brook:
Join poet Alicia Mountain, visual artist Sarah E. Brook, and Middle's extended creative community for a shared Lenten journey. Each week, you'll receive emails featuring a poem and a piece of visual art reflecting on themes of grief and transformation. You'll also be invited to share your reflections. These emails will arrive every Wednesday throughout Lent, starting on Ash Wednesday. Additionally, we'll come together on Zoom for three biweekly sessions (5:00-6:00 pm ET on 2/25, 3/10, 3/24) to discuss our creative reflections and Lenten experiences. No prior art-making experience is necessary, and it's okay to join just to listen. If you can't make the Zoom sessions but still want the emails, that's perfectly fine too!
Reading Group: Notes of a Native Son by James Baldwin with Rev. Natalie Perkins:
In honor of James Baldwin's upcoming centennial, join Rev. Natalie 2/18, 2/25, 3/3, 3/10 at 8pm ET, in a reading of his earlier essays in the book Notes of a Native Son. This interactive course will be held both on Zoom and in Middle on the Circle platform. To get set up on the platform in advance, click here.
We look forward to journeying through Lent together.
