To do justice, to love mercifully, and to walk humbly with our God. This is our calling, family; this is our job description. This is why we are on the planet: To build the Realm of God—the Kin-dom of God—on the earth. That’s why we do what we do.
That’s why we’re responding to this moment of unbridled violence and brokenness in our nation with Freedom Rising: The Fierce Urgency of Now, October 31-November 2, 2025.
We are convening some of our nation’s most prolific thought leaders—and we are gathering a love army that includes YOU so we can make strategy, and devise tools and tactics to guide our communities with love.

Sunday, May 4 – Caregiver Gift Basket Assembly
Join us after worship until 1:45 PM at 50 East 7th Street to put together gift baskets for new New Yorker caregivers. All are welcome to make cards and assemble items in an assembly line of care and love.
Middle is co-hosting an event on May 10 to honor these caregivers, who experience unique challenges and barriers—barriers that are increasing under this federal administration.
All items are provided. Hands and hearts needed.
Email Rev. Amanda to help out this Sunday.
Thursday, May 1 – May Day / International Workers Day
May Day is International Workers Day, when millions of people take to the streets around the world, commemorating workers’ struggles of the past and building power for the future. This May Day, Middle is getting involved in three ways:
12:00 PM – Rally at Union Square
We’ll join hands with workers around the world as we stand up against the right-wing billionaire agenda of Trump’s White House and in solidarity with the people of Palestine. Join us in building solidarity as we resist the attacks on the working class at home and U.S. imperialism abroad.
To meet up for this rally, join Middle's on-the-ground Signal chat, click here.
5:00 PM – Rally at Foley Square
We’re organizing for a world where every family has housing, health care, fair wages, union protection, and safety—regardless of race, immigration status, or zip code. Join thousands of fellow New Yorkers as we fight back against the Trump Administration’s attempts to target immigrant families, defund our schools, and privatize public services.
Use the same Signal chat above to connect with us on the ground.
8:00 PM ET – Virtual Teach-In: Resisting Authoritarianism
Join us online for a powerful teach-in on resisting authoritarianism.
Saturday, May 10 – Día en Familia (Volunteers Needed)
We are looking for volunteers to join us for a beautiful Día en Familia on Saturday, May 10, from 12:00–3:30 PM.
